The familiar feeling that pulls a guest into a hotel lobby, draws a customer into a boutique, lingers in an office long after it has emptied — beneath all of them lies the same thing: a signature scent. The first thing to enter a space, remembered long before the logo or the colour.

What Is a Signature Scent?

A signature scent (or scent branding) is the lasting fragrance designed exclusively for a brand or a space. Just like a logo or a typeface, scent is now a component of brand identity; yet various studies show that scent has an effect on brand recall 100 times stronger than the visual. Because scent reaches the emotional memory centre directly.

Why a Signature Scent?

  • The power to be remembered. A customer will not remember a hotel they visited at the start of the month six months later; yet the scent of the tea they drank that same day can still feel present in their senses today.
  • Atmospheric distinction. Two boutique hotels can be furnished with the same decor; but with a different scent they become different places. Scent signs its name on a space.
  • Brand consistency. A restaurant chain can offer a different experience at different branches with the same menu. The same scent gives the same feeling across every branch.
  • Higher perceived quality. A space defined by scent automatically positions itself in the customer's mind at a higher tier.

Who Should Use One?

A signature scent is not the concern of luxury hotels alone. If a space has an identity, it can have a scent. The highest returns are seen in these segments:

  • Boutique hotels — defining the guest experience from the lobby to the suite.
  • Restaurants and cafés — adding atmosphere to the gastronomic experience.
  • Lifestyle brands and boutiques — turning shopping into a visit.
  • Concept offices and coworking spaces — translating the working mood into the brand's own language.
  • Spas and beauty centres — the first tool at the foundation of the relaxation experience.
  • Events and launches — making a single night unforgettable.

How to Work With NOU-ERE

The NOU-ERE Signature Scent Service consists of three stages:

  • 1. Briefing. A collaborative study of your brand's identity, the character of the space and the intended emotion. We review your brand guidelines, your photographs and your reference atmospheres.
  • 2. Design. Our perfumer proposes 3–5 different scent compositions for you. Samples are produced in our atelier and sent to you by post.
  • 3. Production and delivery. The approved scent is produced in the format you wish — candle / room fragrance / spray. We also apply your requests for brand-specific packaging, labels and cards at this stage.

The minimum production quantity is 100; optional seasonal, launch and event collections can also be designed separately.
